Shrivenham 2 Pegasus Juniors 3.
REQUIRING points to climb away from the basement of the FTL Futbol Hellenic League Premier Division, Pegasus Juniors produced a remarkable comeback at Swindon-based Shrivenham.
Conceding two goals against the run of play in the first 15 minutes gave Juniors an uphill task.
But, despite these setbacks, the visitors persisted with their passing game without seriously testing the goalkeeper before the interval.
In the second half, Liam Jones had a goal-bound effort parried and Chris Mortlock had a lob cleared off the line before Juniors pulled a goal back in the 70th minute.
The Shrivenham defenders were allowing the ball to run out for a goal-kick when Ben Price stole in unnoticed at the far post to sidefoot the ball home.
Two minutes later, the visitors were level following a fine passing movement when Price slipped the ball to Mortlock to net from close range.
With Pegasus now pressing forward at every opportunity the turnaround was completed five minutes from time. Mortlock intercepted a pass at the back to fire in a shot which was blocked but the returning Cory Hyde latched on to the rebound to chip over the advancing goalkeeper for three valuable points.
Pegasus Juniors 2 Kidlington 1.
SEEKING to avenge their August defeat, Pegasus rallied for a second time in three days to turn a one-goal deficit into a 2-1 victory against visiting Kidlington.
In a game which was a credit to the league, Kidlington took the lead in the second minute and went on to miss a number of gilt-edged chances. Rob Laurie’s header finger-tipped on to the bar was the attacking highlight for Juniors who went into the break one behind.
On the hour, parity was restored when Simon Gwynne scored an excellent header from Price’s pinpoint cross.
With six minutes remaining Anthony Robbins completed a good week for the Hereford side with a winning header from Hyde’s cross.
