A HEREFORDSHIRE company that started using innovative methods to promote a traditional pastime has won itself world-wide acclaim from IT experts.
Mail order company Wiggly Wigglers, which distributes garden merchandise to 90,000 customers globally, won £25,000 to spend with computer specialists Dell after using the internet to reduce its outgoings and boost sales.
The Blakemere firm beat world-wide competition to win the first Global Dell Small Business Excellence Award in New York.
Director Heather Gorringe said although it was time-consuming, the use of social media – websites like Facebook and methods like blogging – was of great value to the business.
“We are thrilled to receive this award and can’t wait to start blogging and podcasting with our customers all over the world to let them know,” she said.
Mrs Gorringe and her colleagues are expanding with a new floristry service launching on-site tomorrow (Friday). The public can enjoy mince pies and mulled wine and enter a special prize draw to help charity.
